Thank you for contacting me with regards to the proposed pro-abortion amendments to the Domestic Abuse Bill.
I can assure you that my intention was to oppose these amendments and would have voted against them had they been put before us on Monday. You will have seen that the amendments were withdrawn at the last minute and were not put to Parliament to vote on.
It is my view that these amendments were ‘out of scope’ of the bill and would have taken valuable time away from debating the serious issues concerning domestic abuse with which the Domestic Abuse Bill is intended to grapple.
