Carers Week takes place every year to help raise awareness of the support that more than 6.5 million unpaid carers provide daily, and to recognise the role they have played during the Coronavirus crisis.
Despite playing such a vital role, carers are not getting the recognition and support that they need and deserve. Carers Week is therefore an ideal opportunity for everyone to show their individual support.
Many of those providing unpaid care were under intense pressure before the Coronavirus outbreak began, providing substantial hours of care a week. Now, in a time of national crisis, carers are doing even more to ensure that people in each of our communities are properly cared for; they have been essential in helping our health and social care services cope during the Coronavirus pandemic, with many taking on significantly more care for their loved ones.
Craig Whittaker MP said:
"I want to say a massive thank you to each and every carer in the Calder Valley who look after our most vulnerable in society. It is especially challenging to care for those who need our help and support the most during this difficult and unwelcome pandemic, and I'm sure Calder Valley residents will join me in recognising and celebrating our carers across the constituency. I will continue to listen to and champion the needs of all our carers and I encourage other MP's to offer the same support."
