Craig Whittaker MP for Calder Valley, has urged businesses in the constituency to get involved in winning business on the building of the new HS2 railway.
The building of Phase One of HS2 alone will create 400,000 contract opportunities for businesses of all sizes and sectors right across the country and already 2,000 businesses have won work on the scheme.
But the MP has called for businesses, particularly those affected by the economic downturn, to register their interest for the thousands of opportunities.
He said:
“I know many businesses have been affected by the economic downturn so it’s incredibly important they get involved in projects like this. I want businesses in my constituency at the front of the queue for the opportunities that will flow from this national investment.
“Contracts of all sizes and types for businesses in almost every line of work will become available and I want to see businesses find out more so they can be well placed to win work.”
The starting point for all businesses should be visiting hs2.org.uk/building-hs2/supply-chain/ to find out more about what opportunities will be available and how to start the process of bidding and winning work.
