Craig Whittaker MP is delighted to hear Elland will receive up to £150k from the Government to help develop a business case to revitalise Elland High Street as part of the Future High Streets Fund (FHSF). The area is now also eligible to bid for up to £25m of capital investment from the government.
Elland town centre wants to build on its heritage, arts and cultural appeal. It has a great plan to promote new spaces for businesses and residents, for pedestrianisation of the town and for local community initiatives. This could renew investment in the centre and attract greater footfall.
The Government are now inviting Calderdale Council to submit a full business case to the Future High Streets Fund (FHSF), and plan to announce the list of authorities that are successful in obtaining capital funding for their transformational schemes by spring 2020. The FHSF will provide capital funding to places to invest in infrastructure, housing and workspaces. These projects will transform our high streets and town centres, bringing long-term economic benefits.
Craig would like to hear residents views on what you would like to see so that he can work with Calderdale Council in securing more funding from the government.
