Three months after Storm Ciara and Dennis devastate the Calder Valley, Calderdale Council are finally releasing the Property Resilience Flood Grant to residents and businesses affected by February's flooding .
Following pressure from the Calder Valley MP and the Conservative Group on Calderdale Council, the council have refocused their efforts to ensure this vital fund reaches those who are eligble to apply and are in most need.
Up to £5,000 is available to assist people whose properties are eligible for the scheme. From Monday 8th June, owners of residential properties and business owners can go on the Calderdale Council website and complete the Eligibility Checker and Expression of Interest forms online. This process must be completed on or before Monday 31st August as the forms will be closed to new applications from that date.
Craig Whittaker MP for Calder Valley Said:
I am pleased that the council are finally opening up applications to residents and businesses who badly need this financial assistance to make their properties resilient to future flooding. It is important not to forget flood victims throughout the COVID-19 crisis, which has understandably diverted attention and focus. However, the council should have moved sooner on this scheme and given flood victims the opportunity to protect themselves against future flooding events.
Eligible applicants will be emailed a full application form to complete in more detail.
