Thank you for contacting me about the Gender Recognition Act.
There has been a consultation on how best to make changes to the Gender Recognition Act to meet the concerns of those who feel that the process should be less bureaucratic and more streamlined. There have not been any decisions made on this yet; over 100 organisations have met with the Government Equalities Office to ensure that their views are heard and listened to.
Among other measures, guidance has been issued to employers and service providers, a £3 million programme to tackle bullying attributed to transphobia head on has been launched and the first ever action plan for improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people has been published.
Thank you again for taking the time to contact me.
